Organic Feed Options

Select your choice of a 10 pound sample of organic starter feed to get them of to a good start.  The average chick consumes about a pound of feed per week.  Thus, 10 pounds will last 2 weeks for 5 chicks.  We offer the option of 20 pounds of starter feed in your choice of an auto waterer or auto feeder once they are of outside ages (5 gallon buckets).  The flock starter comes with indoor waterer/ feeder.  We offer the option of a 35lb bag of starter which would last up 5-7 chicks their first 5-7 weeks.

Brooder Height Options

We recommend a max 32 chicks up to 6 weeks of age then transition to outside in the standard height brooder system. If you want to grow your chicks out more than 6 weeks,  the optional height extension allows up to 16 chicks to grow out up to 10 weeks.

Outside night time tempature plays a role in deciding how old the chicks should be before introducing to an outdoor coop.  6 week olds can be introduce to outside when above 50°F. 10 week olds can be acclimated outside when above 32°F.

Brooder Stand Options

The Brooder dimensions are 32" X 38" X 12".  It is most user friendly when lifted to table height. It makes it easier to view the chicks, add water, add feed, and reach the easy pull out tray.   If you already have a dedicated table for the brooder or you do not mind it be at floor level, you may select 'not needed'.  If you plan to raise a high volume of chicks, the brooders can be stacked on top of each other.  When stacking multiple brooders, the wheel set is most convienet to roll the unit as needed.

Brooder Benefits

Raise them right for less than the cost of making your own brooder. Save on electricity, the mess of wood shavings, and decrease the risk of chick loss. Includes organic feed, feeder, waterer, safe digital thermostat-controlled heater permanently mounted on the brooder frame, and easy clean-living quarters. TUV LISTED - This certification makes it perfect for use in classroom and family home settings.

This is the same brooder system that we use for our baby chicks. It addresses all the main concerns families have about raising chickens. It is designed to eliminate stress in young birds (and owners) by providing plenty of automatic heat, fresh air, light, sanitary feed and water system, protection from cats or other indoor pets, and safe thermostat-controlled heater.

The current most common illnesses amongst baby chicks are spread through feather dander or wet droppings. This brooder offers the most hygienic environment to reduce risk of Marek's and Coccidiosis. The droppings never have a chance to fall into their food nor water as they both hang on the outside of the brooder. Their feces are quickly dropped below through a 1/2" mesh flooring and land on an easy to clean pull out tray. By having a pull-out tray instead of wood shavings, you can quickly see if everyone's droppings look normal as you change their paper. Roll up and toss or use in the garden as compost.. It also reduces the fire risk of old fashioned heat lamps and pine shaving style brooders.

Three clear plastic panels allow full and easy viewing and access. 28.5” feed/ water troughs provide ample feed and water space which is necessary to allow weaker chicks access in the presence of more dominant chicks. The troughs are mounted on the outside of the brooder. In addition to reducing the mess of cleaning droppings out of water and feed, it also saves on feed. Traditional feeders get pine shavings and potential droppings in them or the chicks scratch and make a food mess in their bedding leading to significant food waste. Designed to allow you to enjoy a weekend away and come back to healthy chicks.

The 300-watt heater provides sufficient heat while the vented plastic side panels keep out drafts. As chicks are drawn to light rather than heat, each heater has a socket for a low wattage attraction light bulb, which helps to encourage young chicks to group in the heated area.

Each side panel comes with an adjustable gate to regulate openings for chick size as they grow.
